TORONTO - Nevermind pop, Taylor Swift conquered the Canadian chart Tuesday with what amounted to a short crackle.

An eight-second clip of white noise erroneously released and attributed to the singer held the top spot on the Canadian iTunes chart as of noon on Tuesday.

The snippet was listed as "Track 3" on the Nashville singer's hotly anticipated full-pop makeover "1989."
